My emediet choise after reading the essay topic was Hayao Miyazaki - he is a big fish, and I heard few other classmates chose this animator? :) but after Tuesdays animations.. .I stared thinking more about Norman Mclaren..
Seriously though, go with what subject you feel will draw you in and enable you to write the appropriate essay (both in quantity and content), sometimes the outfield choice can work out as a better choice due to clearer objectivity. Both are very different animators in terms of style. It is a tough choice... personally despite my appreciation of Miyazaki I would side with Mclaren, mainly so I could explore his influence of Canadian and global animation through the years as well his experimental techniques and chosen subject matter. However if that sort of doesn't rock your boat then go with Miyazaki for the opportunity to analyse his use of whimsy, his storytelling as well as the commercial side of the animation industry with Studio Ghibli and their relationship with Disney.
I'll stop now before I write an essay myself, and I probabaly haven't helped what so ever.
aww starting already! lol, i should rele do that this project, but i am rele stuffed too about who to write about - i think i will become a libary preadtor tomorrow :) I think Norman woul dbe very interesting to write about but it all depends on who you can get some good research from.
i'd persnaly go for Miyazaki, his animations are lituraly amazing. (not that I'm a fan XD). The films are memorable due to strong music and easy to follow plt lines. I have a few of his films so if you wish to watch some, I could lend you one or two of them.
Oh I have a collection as well :D He is amazing.. but I feel..Mclaren would give more practical use for this unit to our animation its the way he takes fev elements or simbols and plays with them. Miyazaki constructs a whole world full of animation grammar , from what to begin gosh :D
Neither, go for the Brothers Quay..... yes I am biased, but then we got assigned our animators.
ReplyDeleteooooo... I've checked out the artist. Poverfull imagery.
