Amazing amazing life drawing studio in Bethnal green ! Even served cheese and wine during the break! The model contextualized his poses in 'war scenes', quite playful.

Hiatus Kaiyote Portrait Landscape
Amazing Hiatus Kaiyote are an independent future soul group based in Melbourne.
They are absolutely lovely so I decided to give it a go and practice portrait skills by drawing them up. I've tried to capture
the likeness more than anything else, but kept the personal style too. The piece took me about 8 -9 hours to complete.
Following portraits are of are Nai Palm, Paul Bender, Perrin Moss and Simon Mavin.
And more on the music they play, Hiatus Kaiyote has a style that can’t be easily pinpointed. Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Tupac Shakur, Flying Lotus, traditional flamenco and music from Mali and Colombia have influenced the group. They're touring in Europe now and I will see them in London Village Underground, soon. Who knows, maybe will be able to say hello (:]
Check them out, maybe they will be to your liking too :]

Life Drawing at Angel
Yesterday a group of us went to Angel, (a place close to New Designers venue actually) for a life drawing session. It has been a while since I last time did figure drawing, perhaps 4-5 months ago. So I found it extremely enjoyable after such a long break :] Also, to all of our pleasure, we had a really interesting model.

Old Man's Mood Studies
The life drawing gets entertaining. We are asked to use different mediums and expressive techniques to convey an emotion , a state or mood. This time it was narcoleptic, melancholic, sneaky and pompous.

Nudes of March
This time the session was particularly interesting for we were asked to interpret an emotional state in different visual languages. So cool! there's an indication to what was the feeling on the corner of every image. Also, some 2min. poses at the end of the page.

December's Sketchbook
Pretty thin, I can say, but it’s cause I’m knee deep in 3d production, which is
nowhere close to 2d stuff.
So this month had some life drawing of middle aged female
and an older man. Other things include random
doodling and some thoughts on my next
character project – Baltic pixie.

Life Drawing - Grasping the Essence of a Human Figure
Life drawing of past few weeks. There was a chance to join first year students in the class, as they have two of them and two models. Which is nice, there is plenty of space to draw " from an elbow" and models swap, so we'd get older man and then a woman model later.
Also, Chris Hunt keeps things varied. We'd have 2min. pose drawings and then, half an hour long measurment practice drawing.

September's Sketchbook
I'll try and keep it a monthly update of sketch selection.
This time it is pritty random and varied. Some life drawing, some ideas for paintings and illustrations, mainly scribbles.

Life Drawing Games
This life drawing wasn't like any other last year. In the first half of the session we played a game where the task was to work on a drawing for a minute and then move 2 easels to the left and work on what you've found there for a minute, till all of as made a full circle. Finally when we came back to our own easels, we had 3 minutes to work on what we found and add something to make the drawing "our own".
And we didn't have a model that day ,so instead Jono, Paul and Godwin kindly posed for us :)

Life Drawing: Human Figure in Perspective
This session the task was to represent human figure in perspective , again, using all the techniques tought, like using negative space, mesuring proportions with a pencil, visualizing conecting lines to get the direction, blocking in the shapes first and so on. After continuous practising sessions like that get easier ans easier to understand the perspective, as well as life drawing model shapes.

Life Drawing: Understanding the complexities of perspective
After a litle brake we got a male model in life drawing with different body shapes in reliance to the previous model.
The task after a quick warm up was to capture forms in perspective using methods we learned from previous sessions ( mark making, measuring, relating shapes with negative space etc.)
We were given ruffly about 2 hours to draw it.
First half of that hour was only mark making, there were only strait lines and dots on the sheet, after understanding how the shape worked I began to draw out the values of the body.
Though, as I agree with Chris Hunt, still many issues are evident in the work.
But enjoyed it anyway :)

Life Drawing : Conecting Body Volumes With the Negative Space
This week the task was to draw switching attention from body volume (shading in other words) to the negative space ( pay attention to everything around the body) trying to make a relevantly abstract drawings. It was a more creative task even though it heavily relied on keen observation.
