New Designers and the Outcome so Far

The recent event, New Designers is considered to be the UK’s most important graduate exhibition. Over 3,500 of the most talented newly graduated designers from across the nation came together making it an event  full of innovation and fresh thinking. I was extremely grateful and proud to be a part of this grandiose platform.

CG Arts and Animation stand nearly won the Best Stand Prise, and received numerous compliments both from professionals and peers ( Thanks to Phil''s and Alan's genius idea for the Zoe trope-themed stand! ).

Me, together with Leo Tsang and Ruben Martins, were noticed by art editor of the Magazine, and shortly received invitation to be a part of showcase section for the next issue. These are the images I've added and  a list of answers .

- What's your favourite tool and why?

I am spoilt for using pen tablet. It allows immediate creative idea translation without the trouble of dealing with physical materials.

- What techniques to do you use most and why?

When producing  something visually exciting within CG , you use a range of techniques of a whole studio:
the production designer’s, modeller’s,  animator’s, director’s and so on.

- What (if any) computer packages do you use?

Photoshop, Maya, Mudbox, Premiere and Aftereffects.

- Who are your dream clients?

My dream clients would trust me to work my magic and allow freedom from briefs.

Whats your dream job?

Positions of visual developer, character designer and eventually art director and director.

- What inspires you?

I’m  inspired by experiences therefore I am trying to visit different places with most interesting people.

Again, many exciting contacts were made during the event, hopefully it won't be long for something to follow.

Part of professional presence, without a doubt, is business card. Also, it was  quit importantly, for the design of business card to sit nicely together with blog template, CV and self branding . After to and fro development and discussions with printing company I believe I’m settled with these ones. 500 copies on their way.

Self Branding Development

To develop professional presence we were asked to work on our personal branding , including logos, business cards and indents.

I have decided to push the brand identity I have created already, 'JJ' logo works as a symbol and as a signature perfectly.

However the presentation needed some revisiting. I have decided to really sell the textured quality of my logo and created background, resembling the original logos and also a felt that dusty and smoky addition would further emphasize it. It all seems to be working in a match with the tonality of soundtrack.

This one is what I had before:

I am happy with how professional and modest the business card looks:

I see it as quite important, for when going out there, it seems to be proving you've went the extra mile.

Online Professional Presence and Promotional port-folio

Over the time of self initiated project I was developing an online professional presence, promotional port-folio and Other things like updating showreel and idents, cards etc.

To start from, this project gave a lot of new material to update the showreel with:

For online presence I have revisited every single site I was already registered and created a personal template. Flavicons, automated signatures with links to port-folio, consistent background sheet or a banner was added .

I was already  signed up with such sites like  Youtube, Deviantart, Vimeo and Blogger and created new professional accounts on  Twitter and  CGSociety,

I have chosen to assemble a blog post showcasing my promotional port-folio for its capacity to be updated easily  . Promotional Port-folio required some thought when putting some work together , which I believe to be my best. It is showcasing my 2d designs, some study sketches, Best 3D renders, Animated shorts, Production videos, Work placement and commission work together with employers' references.

Other created  materials would be the animated signature and business card:

Self Promotion: Litle Tiny Books

Yesterday I got my first set of printed ‘portfolios’, little 6 side booklets. I chose to publish some of the concept art, character designs and stills from animations emphasising the diversity in style and thinking. I tried creating a clear booklet for both, professionals as well as people who don’t have a clue about digital arts. I’m hoping to hand these out to people I’ll meet in upcoming summer when being part at various activities and while hitchhiking/couch surfing. the layout and organization can be seen here: JJ Jolanta Jasiulionyte Portfolio Leaflet
