Light and Dark Moodboard

A little exercise in collage'ing. It is inspired by a specific creative brief, for an imagined fashion PR client, owning a large studio space that should take shape of highly styled living space.

I chose the approach of embracing the pooling light (large windows) on one side of the space; intending to use the naturally present dark side of the other side to drive moody contrasting installations.

The three rhombus segments note the division for use of space (for example: 1.bathroom amenities, 2.living area, 3.bedroom .. or , alternatively, 1.bedroom/bathroom, 2.living area, 3.kitchen/bar) and that there is a distinct segmentation and shift between the three.

Bicycle Boards

Cycling to work everyday made me  appreciate bicycles. I  find myself wondering about cycling in general. I suppose that's where the inspiration for this product comes from (and from here).

A though of a new type of ad boards, suited particularly to bicycle frames.  It could serve for advertisement carried out by individuals (cyclists) and not by fat agencies. And you would probably want to promote something meaningful and relevant to you, like social ads or self-promotion...

Soul , Title and Background Designs

At The Wolves Within,  preproduction is  soon to reach its ends.

To wrap up character design a sort of another one is created  for human soul. Native American doll is a representation for it. Sheet of ideas vary from quite typical puppets in native American art to some more loose ideas which would offer themselves  more as a spirit of mysterious nature.

I quite like the one which is formed of floaty cloth. It keeps the idea of using a doll to represent the soul but pushes it at the same time to suggest a less obvious nature of it. I see it working quite charmingly with the light stream idea in the sacred environment

The developed character and environment designs  suggested an  approach for the title : sharp silhouette goes with flowy shape within it, to embody both the bad and good wolves design language.

Next,  a base sheet to present whatever information was needed . Native american ornament shapes and  the relevant colour pallete was arranged in a way to suggest inner space/ our psyche.

Lastly, these are some  experiments  for the blog banner:

Self Promotion: Litle Tiny Books

Yesterday I got my first set of printed ‘portfolios’, little 6 side booklets. I chose to publish some of the concept art, character designs and stills from animations emphasising the diversity in style and thinking. I tried creating a clear booklet for both, professionals as well as people who don’t have a clue about digital arts. I’m hoping to hand these out to people I’ll meet in upcoming summer when being part at various activities and while hitchhiking/couch surfing. the layout and organization can be seen here: JJ Jolanta Jasiulionyte Portfolio Leaflet

Developing Bird's Design: The Architecture of the Bird

This is the first step in developing the design of the character, that is figuring out the proportions and finding the structure which would then serve as guidlines in the actual process of design since the bird will be constructed of various bits of other models (ships, tools etc.) . So to make sence in the design I first started thinking about the "anatomy" of the bird.
Also the bird will transform into a lantern, so I bared that in mind when designing. For instance, I was planing to make the wings short, but they didn't suited the bird-lantern so I went for longer wings.

I took the advice I heard quite a few times this year and quickly done some shape tests. So far it looks like the shape is simbolic, simply readable and in this case suitable .(In animation the bird would be a bit clumsy and in a way inconfident, but still childishly energetic, cute and outgoing).

Now It comes to figuring out the detailes, as in this case it's all about the details since the bird is going to be one large 3d puzle.
